Wintertime in Greece, what’s in your bag?

Ahhh, Greece, the country with 300 days of sunshine! The small European country with the countless beautiful beaches, the whitewashed houses on the islands and the country with the crystal clear waters that you don’t want to get out of.  The cradle of western civilization. Just saying it’s name one gets summer flashes and a longing for vacation, but Greece is a country that has so much to offer all seasons. Its reputation of a summer destination can be very deceiving, when you’re packing your bags to visit it during winter.

Ok, so you’ll probably won’t experience much snow on the Aegean islands, or double digit temperatures under zero, but Greece isn’t an always summer country. When you pack your luggage make sure you bring a sturdy umbrella, cause at places it gets really windy. Maybe a good raincoat, as sometimes it drizzles for days continuously!

Check if you have a warm sweater and jacket, cause it many times gets really cold, or rather feels very cold, due to humidity. Make sure your shoes will stand the test of a heavy rain, especially if you want to do some walking to see the sights.

Having said all that, no matter when you visit Greece, do bring with you sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat and some t-shirts. If you’re playing with odds, it’s more likely that you’ll visit on another clear, sunny day that will get very warm during noon!
